Hi, I’m Mary, the person behind the food blog Sweet Little Bluebird. I am a Michigan girl, born and raised in Flint, currently living outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I am married to a great guy from Northern California, together we have two sweet girls. On my blog you will find my favorite recipes along with tried and trues from cherished cookbooks and admired sites and magazines. Each Friday, stop by my site for the Weekend Potluck party, a place where top food bloggers come to link up their best recipes.
I love to share, that’s why I blog.
What’s with the name Sweet Little Bluebird?
As a child, my favorite people in the world were my grandparents, William and Mary. I loved spending time with them. As a kid, they called me their Little Hothouse Rose, because I always wanted to be by their side, hanging out, doing whatever they were doing.
One of my favorite things in their home were these tiny glass bluebirds they had in their windowsill, called Bluebirds of Happiness. You can learn more about the glass bluebirds here, from Terra Studios, under Frequently Asked Questions.
To purchase your own Bluebird of Happiness, head Terra Studios Online Store. *I have no affiliation with Terra Studios, just a fan.*
When I got married and moved away, I found my own little glass bluebird to have in my home. Seeing it brought me so much comfort and helped me feel close to my grandparents when they were so far away.
My grandparents are now gone, but never forgotten. These are the bluebirds that were in their windowsill and are now in mine. Every morning when I see them, they bring me so much happiness. They are sweet reminders of my childhood and my grandparents.
