This copycat recipe of The Laundry’s legendary spread from Fenton, Michigan, is pretty darn good – a symphony of sweet and tangy that’s both unexpected and addictive. Words can’t quite capture the deliciousness of this Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese Spread – it’s an explosion of flavor.
Ingredients to make 5–minute apricot gorgonzola cheese spread
- apricot preserves
- cream cheese
- bacon
- gorgonzola cheese
- green onion
- pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
How to Make This Easy Apricot Gorgonzola dip
In a medium size bowl, mix everything together. Next, pour in a serving dish and then place in the refrigerator and allow to chill for 1 hour.
Serve chilled with a fresh baguette and favorite crackers. This is also great with fresh cut veggies.
If you ever find yourself near Fenton, do yourself a favor and make a pit stop – trust me, it’s worth the detour! Until then… No Michigan trip? No problem! This copycat recipe brings the dreamy goodness home.
Serve fresh sliced baguette or your favorite plain flavored crackers. This can also be served with fresh cut veggies.
This dip will last up to 2–3 days stored in the refrigerator.
Yes! Save time and make this the day before your gathering.
You can use store brands, Smucker’s, Bonne Maman, you can also use homemade. Bonne Maman and Smucker’s are my favorite.
Applewood smoked bacon is best! But if you want to save time, ready-made bacon and bagged REAL bacon work great!

Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese
Ingredients
- 2 blocks cream cheese (8 ounces each), softened at room temperature
- 5 ounces gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
- 3 ounces bacon, cooked (I often cheat and use pre-cooked. If you make your own, applewood smoked bacon is the best)
- ¼ cup green onion, chopped (green section)
- 6-8 ounces apricot preserves (use more for a sweeter taste)
- dash cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium size bowl, mix everything together. Pour in serving dish and allow to chill for 1 hour.
- Serve chilled with a fresh baguette or favorite crackers.
Notes
- For a quick and easy 5 minute prep – use pre-cooked bacon!
- For some extra kick and flavor, add a little cayenne pepper.
- Use less cream cheese for stronger Gorgonzola taste.
- Use more Apricot Preserves for sweeter taste.
- You can use less or more green onion.
- Taste test as you make it, to see what you like best!

Could you make this as a hot dip? Baked?

I’ve made this a few times, and with apricot preserves it’s a little more liquidy than the Laundry’s. I replaced the preserves with dried apricots and a couple squirts of honey and it’s perfect! I also add more bacon and less green onion, because I’ve always felt theirs had too much green onion in it. I throw the cheeses and apricots in the food processor and it takes no time to make!
Thanks for posting this recipe, I lived about 10 minutes from the Laundry since it opened until last year, and I was really missing this spread.

I have made this spread more times than I can begin to tell you, and it is always a hit!! The only thing I add is a little dried chopped apricots, but it's great without it too. Great combination of flavors!!

I used to live in Fenton and have eaten at the French Laundry many times. Their food is awesome! I have had this spread there many times, it's an old favorite. This recipe comes very close. Thanks!
