- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons butter, divided, melted (I used 4 tablespoons)
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (10 3/4 ounce)
- 8 ounces of cream cheese, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (I used low sodium)
- 1 packet (1 ounce) Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
- paprika – few dashes
- 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic (I used 1/2 teaspoon)
- 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes (I used 1/2 teaspoon)
- 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano (I omitted)
Lightly spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place chicken in a single layer in cooker. Sprinkle chicken breasts with paprika and dry ranch mix, coating chicken evenly then drizzle 1 tablespoon of butter on top. Cook on low for 4 hours.
TIPS – BAKING IN THE OVEN
- I doubled the butter, garlic and parsley and omitted the oregano.
- I followed the same instructions, but instead of using my crock pot, I placed the chicken breasts in a 9×13 baking dish, lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
- I sprinkled the breasts with paprika and the ranch dressing packet, then drizzled the melted butter on top. I used a brush to get the butter even over the chicken.
- I baked the chicken uncovered at 350 degrees f. (pre-heated), on the middle rack of the oven for about 45 minutes, then topped the chicken with the creamy sauce and placed it back in the oven uncovered for an additional 20 minutes.
- Baking times will vary depending on the size of the chicken breasts and oven. My chicken breasts were large and took longer to bake to reach a safe 165 degress f..
- I thinly sliced the chicken, serving it over rice with the sauce, with a side of steamed broccoli.
- Don’t let the ugly fool you, it may not be pretty right out of the oven…but it’s great. Be sure to mix the sauce again, in the baking dish, before serving.

Thank you so much for NOT calling this “cracked out” chicken. As an addictions counselor, I am completely tired of anything “cracked out!” I have saved your recipe here along with dozens of others. You are a favorite of mine – thank you.

I’ve made this sooo many times in the oven (I always double the sauce cause it’s just soooo delicious) and put it over buttered noodles.. it’s one of my absolute favorites! Thank you for the recipe!!!

Hi! So this looks amazing! But I was wondering if I could just throw everything in the crockpot and let it cook on low for 5½-6hrs? I was hoping to throw this together and leave for work and not have to worry about it 😅 (of course someone will be home to watch it)
Lindsay
Yes! That’s how I always make it. Throw it all in the crockpot and cook on low. Turns out great!

Could you make this in a instant pot?
Natalie
Do you cook the sauce mixture? It looks like there’s a pot on the stove with maybe the sauce with cream of chicken, cream cheese and chicken broth???? That’s not clear.

Natalie – Yes, I followed the Crock Pot recipe but baked it in the oven “Add cream of chicken soup, the 8 oz. of cream cheese cubes, 1/2 cup chicken broth, dried Oregano and dried Parsley flakes. Stir on medium heat until smooth.” Then pour the sauce over the chicken and bake. I an gluten intolerant and I use the diet very strictly. I live in Az. I have not been able to find GF cream of chicken soup
Campbell’s made a none. I use Pregresso the have a few soups that are GF. I use the cream of mushroom and creamy enchilada. Sometimes that will work as a sub for the cream chicken you call for but Progresso soups are not condensed like the old small cans of Campbell’s or store brands. I heard Amy’s makes a few GF soups so I will have to check. Can you let me know what you use. If it is not GF please let people know…Thanks, Marti

I used Seven Seas Packet of powdered Italian dressing along with the Ranch packet. Saved time and gave it a great flavor!
