In early December, I was able to visit one of their stores with my sister-in-law, during a trip to Buffalo, NY. I was in spice heaven! We were short on time, so I didn’t purchase spices that day, but ended up ordering 15 different seasonings and herb blends from their online store a few weeks later. The package arrived within a week, with a handwritten “Thank You” from the person that packed my order ~ such a nice touch! I also received a bumper sticker and their 2012 winter catalog, filled with recipes and detailed information on their spices and seasonings.

Their slogan is “Love People. Cook them tasty food.”
I couldn’t agree more!
Penzeys has every spice you can think of. My first purchase was all seasonings and herb blends. I love having these on hand to add to dishes, giving them a kick, adding layers of flavor. No work or thought, just sprinkle on the goodness! Their seasonings and herb blends are a great way to take baby steps into spices, if this is foreign territory for you.
*Their catalog provides tips on how much you should buy and how to store your spices
and seasonings.
*They have a great variety of SALT FREE options and baking needs
(extracts, cocoa and spices).
The first herb blend I’m sharing:
“Similar to the house dressing of many fine restaurants, filled with flavorful French herbs, not too tart, lightly thickened by crushed brown mustard. A variation of classic French Vinegar and Oil dressing, but lighter, perfect for today’s salads. Bursting with flavor, blend with a mix of olive oil and red wine vinegar (the proportions can be varied to suit your tastes). Basic recipe for 1 cup dressing: Mix 1-2 TB. seasoning in 2 TB. water, let stand 5 minutes. Whisk in 1/3 Cup red wine vinegar and ½ Cup olive oil, refrigerate. Hand-mixed from: sugar, brown mustard, salt, garlic, black pepper, lemon, onion, French tarragon, white pepper, chives, thyme, cracked rosemary.” (source Penzeys.com)
I have been using this blend in the morning, generously sprinkling it on my eggs. I love the flavor, it’s so good! I can’t wait to make the dressing!
Tomorrow, for Tried & True Tuesday, I’ll share another herb blend.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Cheers!

Hi Sarah – Hmmm, I wonder which blend she puts on the seabass? Penzeys is pretty awesome – I wanted to take some from my sister-in-laws house, she has tons!
Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂 Hope you have a great one! Mary

Mary – my in-laws (in Chicago) LOVE Penzey's spices! Shh…but sometimes I want to clear out my mother's Penzey's spices into my purse when I am there! I can't remember the one spice combo but she put it on Seabass and it was FABULOUS!!! They have such a GREAT product! Would be a great gift for a cook! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Oh yum!! Yeah I would need to take baby steps. I'm not one to try a lot of different spices, but I might just have to try some!
